They used to represent a drug dealers death one of the supposed brothas, or soljer, mark or respect. One bright drug dealer realised it could be used as a beacon to sell drugs lets hope killamarsh council and police stamp this out.

Well we can only sensibly cope with brass or percussion but if anyone wants to get involved with a music training group. Killamarsh Training Band will restart after the summer break on Sunday 13th September at 4pm to 5pm in St Giles Church Hall. We have 12 players at the moment and anyone with the rudimentary music skills (can you read music?) can quickly pick up a brass instrument.

If you have children currently learning brass at either of the local junior schools why not bring them along – or even get involved yourself – some of the bigger instruments really need adults to play them – a BBb tuba for example is about 5ft high and takes some blowing let alone lifting but the good thing is you only have to play simple rhythms and a limited range of notes to make a start. Brass instruments, unlike many other instruments, only have 3 valves that are combined in various orders to achieve a musical scale – some notes dont even need any valve placement to get a note out.

I think it could be a good thing to have some positivity on the website. Have bits where people can write about things that are going off in Killamarsh and on RotherValley. I personally do not attend church but I have recently visited a 'messy church' session with a friend from Uni and I thought was a fantastic idea. You are probably aware that it is run by the kind lady vicar in the village and it is aimed at getting parents and children to play and be creative together. Things like that and say different health and fitness classes that people can attend or groups/organisations people can become a part of.

Nice post and whilst it's important that information about problems in the village should be aired the views on this forum often take on a very negative format. We can all complain, it's easy, finding the solutions to the problems? that's the hard bit. Taking part in village events would help build "community spirit" and perhaps help to get rid of some of the problems. Regretably, I'm sure we are all aware that a load of good stuff can easily be destroyed by the mindless minority but that's not a reason not to have a go.

Our "kind lady vicar" is Rev In Charge Helen Guest and she is working hard to improve many things in the village - so if you've met her you'll know that she's a very proactive lady. When she first came to the village she introduced herself to me (I use the Church Hall twice a week) and she asked "who get's things done" in the village. To tell you the truth I couldn't really answer that one - in dealings I've had with "those that do" I often came across considerable animosity between the various ruling groups - be it Parish Council, Killamarsh Community Trust, District Council, County Council and it was often difficult to work out who was working with whom and vice versa.

So a positive thread with stuff about what's going on sounds great - looking forward to reading all the postive comments you get

As for negative issues we post these so positives may come out of them. If we print everything is rosie, nothing will get done to improve Killamarsh, as people will think nothing is wrong. Dont forget you can send in photographs and do the quiz. We will soon be adding a photo competition with themes, such as the four seasons, beautiful babies , sport, funny, comedy etc. So start your own topic right away. You can also email a member through the forum when you log into the forum you have a message box at the top of the post page click on that and pick which member you want to send a message to. This facility is used if you want to meet with a member or they are selling something etc, it is also used to send private issues to us if members feel it is a bit of a delicate subject. It only uses members usernames.

Earlier I wrote a suggestion in the wrong bit sorry. This is a serious suggestion and I would hope that you would at least consider. Why not have a section on the website where people can say what they like about Killamarsh. It's ok just having concerns but it is generally all negative and I feel that there are a lot of positive things in Killamarsh that are being over looked. I tried to make a point about picking out different things that I personally like about Killamarsh.

Have an area on the forum where people can chat about what they like, make new connections and friendships. People can then choose there own topics whether they are good and bad. Who knows expanding and developing to appeal to a range of different residents in Killamarsh may increase the sites usage and membership.

Thanks,

Young Resident of Killamarsh.
