Talking to some residents they spoke of the workforce that we have got that is standing idle the, the young offenders and asbo medal hooligans. Why not send them on the bungalows and hazardous pathways that the old and infirm struggle to get down. Just give them shovels and grit, it would'nt take long to clean the paths because there is a lot of offenders many hands make light work. just a thought.
In the fifties and early sixties my father was in the building trade if they were laid off in bad weather and had to sign on,no payments were made until they had been out snow shifting, how times have changed, today the young offenders would have every civil liberty campaigner and do-gooder saying it would breach their civil rights,or health and safety would be on the case like lightening this topic has been brought up on “Killamarsh Forum”with much the same response.
This Country and it's Labour government no longer punish the guilty only the victims of crime, their policies are only as corrupt as the people who make them.
Was talking to the post lady in Killamarsh this morning and found out last Wednesday 06/01/10 the day after the worst of the snow fall, the council workforce were to be seen on Stanley Street out side the old peoples bungalows four of them and a council Transit pick-up,clearing the snow? I asked Oh no FOUR MEN ONE CHAINSAW ONE TRANSIT TRIMMING TWIGS OFF THE TREES !
HOW does this Help any one in this weather, but then again was told the parish council could only afford two ton of rock salt. I have seen this morning the parish council's idea of gritting(now the thaw as started of course)two parish council employees one wheelbarrow a bucket full of rock salt and half a shovel strolling up Bridge Street didn't see much activity with the “monkey spoon” perhaps we have to conserve stocks till next year,no doubt we'll all be hearing very shortly how the parish council went over budget this winter in their attempt to keep Killamarsh moving because of the harshness of the weather conditions.
Marvellous how Kent County Council had to call upon the army to stand by in case of difficulties, but down south what do you expect?
After all we have one of the finest southern exports lording it over us !!!!!!
