Co op Killamarsh

Has anybody had any problems getting served at the co-op recently? Have you found yourself stood in a long queue with the remaining checkouts not been manned…
We guess every Supermarket has its problems and annoyances, however; Killamarsh Co-op has had more complaints file with us than all the other retail issues put together…
Whats going on? Please comment and give us your opinions… thanx
The service at the co op seems a little better they are manning the tills more often lets hope it keeps up.

The co-op…well, well, well…Its a disgrace and to add insult to injury the only large shop in Killamarsh.
Its not like there isnt enough staff to man the checkout. When there is two members of staff on the kiosk they just talk between themselves of which i was brought up to beleive was rude.
The only thing us residents of Killamarsh can do is put written complaints into head office.. The more the better…
Great some more people that get fed up waiting while the cashiers have a chat and a look round . A lot of residents are fuming about the service in the co op they have to stand in a long queue , while computerised checkouts stand idle.It is not just a single occurrence it is everytime you go in. The council supposed to be regenerating killamarsh but whenever you can’t get served crystal peaks here we come, they are forcing people out of the village for some unknown reason thanx again for your comments.
Service and “the co-op shouldn’t even be in the same sentence they wouldn’t know the meaning of the word if it reared up and bit em.One particular member of staff on the tobacco counter shouldn’t even be allowed out on her own!Let alone be entrusted with “customer service”incompetence springs to mind.Complain whats the point?It would only be back elbowed to someone else,knocked around the block a couple of times and then forgotten about.Stuff the Co-op let it go under.
@SipsiCymreig
Correct, I would like to see how they are trained,(if they are) It must be at a school where they are told to stand about, look round, under no circumstances must you acknowledge any customer and wait till theres a queue that reaches to the top of wales bar before you serve anybody keep comments we will be able to complain to the co op thanx
It’s just bad management…Ive seen the manager in there when there are queue’s (which is all the time)…and what does he do…keep stocking the shelves..it’s his job to keep his staff in order…next time i go in im goin to complain direct to him…so watch this space….lets see if it makes a differance..
@Newt
Bad management, one of our residents went to the co op and there was a big queue, he was waiting a long time when he neared the end one of the staff went in front of him with a basket of goods, and said can you serve me because my shift has ended and I need some shopping. Surely they can get served anytime.Keep the comments coming and complain we need more complainers to get things done thanx.
it’s an appalling shop, the service is almost always terrible.
@fatbloke_2000_uk
Yes it is, but the problem is that it is the only place for the old who can’t drive, or the infirm who can only walk so far. You would think as it is the only supermarket, in killamarsh, it would be top notch and cater for every little thing.
We have now got enough complaints we are going to challenge the co op about the lack of service watch this space.
It’s not a lack of service it’s the provision of an inadeguate service.
4 tills and yet you have to queue and pay at the ‘baccy counter most days. Ludicrous.
Comments and Discussions surrounding this issue should now be placed within the Discussion Forum accessed from the link in the Report… Thank you!
As a resident of killamarsh all of my life, and a recent employee of the co-op, i can say that yes the service isnt always the best. Then again if people expect staff members, who are thin on the ground, to sit on a till and wait for customers to come in the shop, then they clearly have no experience of being a member of staff in a small shop. Whilst not on a till, the staff (usually!) are filling shelves and making sure the shop is easily accessable and easy to shop in. Quick note: with nothing on the shelves it would not be a food shop! And there would be nobody to ask on the shop floor due to ask for help finding products etc because they would all be on a till!
Why do we have to stand at the kiosk when there is five checkouts empty we have to wait for people getting lotteries ,when we want to buy groceries, why not open the checkouts and let people who want lotteries go to the kiosk. As for staffing, the co-op never put enough staff on as it would up the wages bill so they would rather people wait and get aggitated with the staff talking to each other while people are waiting, the service is useless

Hello,
I started working for the co operative group in Killamarsh a few months back. I'm still learning all of the functions of the kiosk and learning all of the codes for the groceries. I do not smoke so i am still learning the large range of cigarettes. Some of the posts I have read have completely knocked my confidence . When I go to work I do get my head down and work hard. I try to help people with product queries and finding products on the shelving. If a cannot find a product I always ask a member of staff who can help the customer.
I only work 2 nights during the week and a Sunday. When called to a check out or kiosk I put down what I am doing and go straight there. Although I don't always feel comfortable with all the functions of the kiosk I try to serve people quickly and politely.I would hope that people can appreciate that everybody has to learn and be more patient with newer members of staff. I understand that waiting in a queue can be frustrating and I plan to speak to the management about what I have read on this website.
Thanks.
Brilliant tell the management dont let anything knock your confidence you are not to blame for management mistakes let the management look at the comments and they can make their own minds up

Well done Killamarshblade stand up to the management and give them the web-site address then they may see for themselves what the public see in their service,or lack of it! But “watch your back” they may think you're trying to pinch their jobs I just wish there were more people like yourself interested in helping others not themselves,your eagerness to help deserves commendation
Rroka has the same sentiments. Well done that man, we need people to bring things to the fore, so change for the better can take place.
As a resident of Killamarsh I am well aware that Killamarsh is no longer a happy place to live. The reason for this? You lot! How dare you moan and groan about the co-op and then still shop there. None of you have aired your feelings in public, instead you choose to hide behind your forum. Stop moaning and if your not happy shop elsewhere.
If you can't get to morrisons then you'll probably starve. Oh well at least you'll not be moaning about trivial things like queuing for 5 minutes in the co-op. Most of you are retired or on the dole anyway so 5 minutes here or there doesn't matter to you. Get off the back of (mostly) hard working staff (and managers). If you don't like it then sod off somewhere else. We'd all be much happier if you shut up talking rubbish.
I bet the manager of the co op has had a heart attack reading the last post, thats all he needs somebody getting rid of more customers. What with the bad service and staff talking and not serving this will be the nail in the coffin for another shop.
Talking to a couple of residents they say service has improved a little, they have started shouting on the intercom system for a checkout to be opened when there is more than four at the kiosk. Adopting most supermarket policies that must be a start. Have not been down for a week so I cannot confirm
Co-op crusader?
looks like another one's got over the wall,or released on care in the community grounds,if you condone this sort of “service” you really should look long and hard as to your senility and ask yourself ” should I really be allowed out on my own”? or maybe you're content sitting in the precinct rocking back and forth knuckle munching!
Yes how to gain friends and influence people, so easy, think we'll take a leaf out of his self help book
Ive not had more than 2 in front of me, so done well? Also, they dont take long to serve, although usually with a friendly reply to any comment.
I am pleased they have some organic stuff, but can we please have some special offers on real food, I am sick of 2 for 1 on junk. Buy one apple get one free would be better. Or pint of milk, joint of beef!
Excellent Idea we would'nt mind, that would stop us eating the crisps and biscuits .

Had cause to visit this establishment this morning to purchase my favourite nicotine fix,(I know I shouldn't as it offends so many self righteous do good mamby pamby politically correct arseholes but I enjoy my smoke! and so do a few of my friends) none on the shelf, but the kind assistant did grub about under the counter and blowing the dust off a very well worn packet of Condor told me ”it should be £4.50 but you can have it for £3.00.” Why the discount? could this be the same packet I returned six months ago?(as dry as snuff then!) surely not. BUT YES. “It's old stock we've got to sell from a store that closed down LAST YEAR!”she proudly informed me. No sell by date on the demon weed. But it does raise the question WHAT OTHER OUT OF DATE STOCK must they have sold on in the last year from the very same closed down store? As for me if I must travel to Morrison's for my tobacco I may as well take Mrs. Sipsi for the weekly shop and stuff shopping in Killamarsh.I consider myself lucky enough to be able to do this but a lot of pensioners on the other hand are not so fortunate as to have their own transport and rely on this debarcle of a “retail outlet” for their sustenance. As for the Co-op lets hope the rumours are true and the whole shopping area is converted into an housing development, that would be a farce of even Killamarsh proportions, a complete village of dwellings with no shops,banks,petrol stations,pubs only a very proud council and every moronic drug addled dead headed vandal in the area.Food for thought maybe?
And the council war cry rings loudly in my ears yet again, its obviously rubbed off on co-operative management “I'M ALLRIGHT JACK etc.etc.”
