St Giles is a beautiful parish church, dating back to the 12th century. The Saxon preaching cross and medieval stocks can be seen in the churchyard. The church contains a lovely Norman font, and a beautiful and rare medieval stained glass window featuring Madonna and Child (represented as a child with ancient hands and feet).
The church is accessible to all visitors. Stained glass windows to see! Toilets on site.

Saturday 13th: 10am – 4pm
Sunday 14th: 12pm – 4pm
DIRECTIONS: (The scenic, most direct satnav route from the motorway)
M1 J31. A57 to Sheffield. At roundabout take A619 Mansfield Road. Turn left to stay on Mansfield Road. Turn right at Long Lane and right again at Dale Road. Dale Road becomes Church Lane, church on right. (SATNAV: S21 1BS)

13th and 14th June. – Heritage Inspired Weekend.
The Church is part of the Heritage Inspired Weekend and they have organised walking/driving/visiting routes that pass St Giles. We hope to get a lot of new visitors this weekend. See their web site

@Chris Could you send any pictures of the silver band in action as we would like to profile the band. I used to play a bit of trumpet with Mr Shimwell the old band leader a lot of years ago. I have not got any photos so anybody with them especially when they played at the killamarsh Gala which was a big event then and brought killamarsh together.

St Giles, Killamarsh Flower Festival.
The Flower Festival is to be held in July 2009
The Church will be open as follows;

Theme – The Life of Christ
Times: Friday 17th July 10am-4pm
Saturday 18th July 10am-4pm
Sunday 19th July noon-4pm
Monday 20th July from 10am-noon
Refreshments will be served throughout these times.

It has been many years since St Giles Church has held a flower festival. We are doing it because:-
* it is a fantastic for of mission: reaching out to those in Killamarsh, within Derby Diocese and also our brothers and sisters in South Yorkshire.
* in these times of recession and credit crunch where morale could potentially be low we, as a church, are offering to all, the chance to engage with the beauty of God’s creation through this special festival.
* Flowers are to be carefully and skillfully arranged by a collaboration of flower arrangers from Ashover, Clowne and Killamarsh.
* it is a wonderful way for all members of the church to come together to help with preparing and servingrefreshments, welcoming visitors and being ambassadors to our Christian faith.

Why have we chosen the theme “The Life of Christ”?
The theme demonstrates our commitment to our mission statement
To be Christ in Church and Community.
By offering to all a beautiful floral depiction of the birth, life ministry, death, resurrection and glorious ascension of Jesus Christ and His relevance today.

Help from anyone who would like to offer a donation for flowers in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a christening, a birthday or a wedding anniversary etc. would be gratefully accepted.

To support the flower festival or St Giles Church maintenance fund etc., please make the cheque payable to St Giles PCC and sent to Revd Helen at the Rectory on Sheepcote Road, Killamarsh S21 1DU
