Regeneration of killamarsh (your having a laugh)

September 2nd, 2009 - 528 views

The so called regeneration of killamarsh consists of closing the bank so people do there banking in eckington or crystal  peaks closing the wade and madins garage so residents have to use petrol to get petrol. The building of houses on the old canal so when if the canal ever comes to killamarsh it will have to be re-routed. Also the closing down of the kwiksave and the parkside looking like a disused no go area.

The regeneration does not seem to be working the walls built around the shops have still not been fixed. Comments please

    what I would like to know is, where has all the regeneration money gone ? and what about the monies we had to regenerate the canals, or are they to be used as skips and dumping grounds which I might add are a danger to local wildlife, pets and humans alike as well as a breeding ground for rats.

    Come on Killamarsh, lets rally round and make the council account for their spending and why instead of re-generation they are degenerating Killamarsh,look at other villages where they have brought the canals back as a killamarshian born and bred I would like Killamarsh back to being proud of saying, “yes I live in Killamarsh”.

    The re-generation of Killamarsh?Yet again centers on the village center newly refurbished,new carpets,new car park entrance(thanks to the loss of a car park)new bar.Remind me again where do these self centred self governing morons of a council have thier darkend rooms? Oh yes the village centre!!!!!DOES NOTHING ELSE MATTER

    There are plans afoot to regenerate the Community Hall (Church Hall) on Sheepcote Road.
    Would you see any benefit in building an extension to the side?
    Several rooms for community groups to meet.
    A big glass fronted coffee shop at the front?
    Permanant staff managing the facilities.

    What would YOU like to have available from this community location.
    Your ideas are verty welcome. – Please comment.

    You can’t blame the council for everything – the owners of W&M decided to close because they weren’t making enough profit. Kwikkies has gone for similar reasons.The video shop went followed by the off licenses.
    Killamarsh has become a commuter village for the neighbouring Sheffield developments.Even if the shops reopened 75% of the inhabitants of the village would never set foot in them.

    I for one would love to see the community hall have a refurb.and more publicity,nothing is ever done for the top end of the village all monies are spent on the village centre.Whoever decided to call it that I don’t know,to me it doesn’t seem very central but does seem to have all the money spent on it.Good old “Fortress Labour”

    What gets on rroka’s goat is the way they seem to get away with it. We at rroka go to the library to see the minutes of the meetings and they are allways out of date by a year or so. So when the council pass something and you dont see the minutes for a year, whatever has been passed at the meeting will allready be done and dusted so you cannot put your point forward and stop it the council have got this act down to a tee. As for the so called village centre, the council could use the bus shelters to have there meetings in and stand in the rain like the old residents in killamarsh have to. I don’ know if you have seen the new welcome to killamarsh sign at the entrance to the first dirty bridge but it also gives its old english name chinewoldsmarcs, which in its modern text language means LAR-GE DU>M-PI>T S-IT=E thanx for comments.

    You can blame the council for not stopping the closures as they had chance As soon as the bank shut people had to go to eckington or crystal peaks to do there banking and obviously while your there you shop. Morrissons has a garage why not do your shopping there it stands to reason. And when the Post Office shuts welcome to Chernobyl. Thanx for your comments keep them coming we need them for our leader Natascha.

    Soon to be EX LEADER I hope.Nothing ever seems to be done in this village for the older generation I can’t see many using the skate park,these are the people who have worked all their lives and most lived in or around the village.I would like to see more done to support these forgotten generation.Could anyone tell me if there is an over sixties club?(not got there myself yet but not far off.)
    Personal CCTV cameras on elderly peoples residence so they can at least see who is at the door before they answer it would have been money better spent,they are not expensive and relatively easily installed and I’m sure someone could have negotiated a deal with suppliers for a bulk order.

    We are very glad you brought the issue up of cameras and the like for the elderly, good Idea you would think. But the council in there wisdom have certain people to do there jobs at an extortionate rate. As an example warmfront heating, they charge say £4500 for a job thats worth £2000. And all there subbies are told to charge high. Non of our plumbers can do the job because warmfront have the monopoly, and are, government backed, so we have to have them, they are making millions.They have even been on watchdog with Domonic Littlewood because of the extortionate rates. but they are still doing it, When are councils going to put the work out to local people and let them tender for the jobs instead of giving it to warmfront who come from Newcastle.

    I keep noticing the street sweeper on his little machine. Never see him sweeping the streets, just enjoying his breakfast at the Cafe on Bridge Street.

    @fatbloke_2000_uk It’s nice to see him any where in Killamarsh,it’s just to bad we don’t see the police as often

    It always comes back to the police…we need the police in Killamarsh..and to be fair we do pay the most council tax in North East Derbyshire so think we at least deserve that much…The elderly have lived all there lives working, bringing up there family paying there taxes so they for one deserve to live without fear for the remainder of there lives.
    Its the parents of the yobs who are at fault.. it seems they are allowed out at all hours…..The parents just havnt taught there children how to respect people and other peoples property… if the parents start getting fined for there out of control kids maybe things may alter.
    I dread to think what state the country will be in when im older…..

    I noticed a Parish Council liveried vehicle today i think – or was it a mirage. I do remember the guy in the green astra van thing who used to remove illegal signs etc,could it be a return to value for council tax.

  14. June 9th, 2009 at 15:30 | #14

    @fatbloke_2000_uk
    Yes I saw the same van, they must have stolen it because they did’nt look as if they were going to throw a lot of work about,I think they use the van to fetch the councils sandwiches.

    @Newt
    Its a good idea to fine the parents, but the problem is the parents are only children themselves, its kids bringing kids up, thats were they lose respect.

    @Manager
    I don’t think we have that many teenage parents in the village. The problem is pretentious two job families who think someone else will look after their offspring ‘cos they either can’t or can’t be bothered.

  17. June 10th, 2009 at 22:30 | #17

    @fatbloke_2000_uk
    Is it the two job families that work just to make one decent wage to live on, or is it the two job families who have no reason to work, but do it to keep somebody else out of work.

    June 12th, 2009 at 12:38 | #18

    Think its the two job families who dont really have to work..I just cant understand why you would go ahead and have a family when you cant afford NOT to work. Think those who go to work through choice when they have kids are selfish individuals…

  19. June 12th, 2009 at 14:43 | #19

    @Newt
    Yes you have hit one of the problems on the head, they have kids they go back to work after six months, the kids are shunted from pillar to post grow up attached to nobody, no bond with parents and like, then expect them to be civilised citizens. Cheers
